System Security: protect against malicious websites
- RISING
Some web pages contain malicious code which could infiltrate or crash your system. This method below could keep you safe from malicious websites.

1. You must confirm that your current system (Win 2000/XP/2003) is clean and virus free. (It is better if it is new installed) Now open Start - Settings - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Local Users and Groups. Set the password of Administrator to more than 10 digits and the password should be composed of numbers, letters and other symbols or characters.

2. Create a new user and set the password for this user. The requirement of setting the password is identical with the password of Administrator. Add this user into the Administrators group. You can login with this user account given that you forget the password of Administrator. The password should be more than 10 digits composed of number, letters and characters so that a hacker can not obtain your password by guess or brute force cracking.

3. Create two new users, say user1, user2 and add them into Users group. Remember not to use Administrator account and user2 account to login unless you must do some maintaining jobs. Normally you can only use user1 to login.

After you login with user1, create a new IE shortcut at desktop.(Right click the mouse, select New - Shortcut, select c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe, and then click Next step) Now right click the IE shortcut, select Properties, click Advance, and then check the option 'Run with different credentials'.

Once you want to surf the internet or browse any websites, click this shortcut. When it requires you to enter the user name and password, please enter the user2 and the password and then use this IE window to visit the websites. In this way, you may rest assured for visiting any malicious websites or web pages.

Note: Don't use user2 to login your Windows system, otherwise the web viruses may be activated.

If you accidentally accept a virus file sent by others and run it and you find your computer gets infected, restart you computer immediately and login with the Administrator account. After login, don't do anything but delete the user1 and user2 accounts.

Now, repeat the steps to create new user1 and user2 accounts, log off, and then login with user1. You must follow two rules at any time:

1. Never login as Administrator unless you must maintain the system, add or delete other user accounts or do some other jobs requiring Administrator account.

2. When you have to login as Administrator, finish your necessary jobs as soon as possible and don't run any other programs or software which comes from third parties. Don't even use the Windows Explorer to browse your hard disks. Just finish your job and then leave.

In this way, you can protect your computer from being infiltrated by viruses due to the websites browsing.
